kevin-jones-c10213987.jpegThe writing has been on the wall for a while for Matt Millen, President and CEO of the Detroit Lions. When Bill Ford Jr. commented a few days ago that “he would fire Mr. Millen if it were up to him”, the writing on the wall became clearer.

And finally it is that time. Matt Millen was fired today by Mr. William Clay Ford. And although I never rejoice at another person’s misfortune, I like most Detroit fans believe that Matt Millen’s firing is the first step in improving the performance of the Detroit Lions.

What is astonishing to me is that Millen got to keep his job for all these years in spite of such a terrible performance. The Lions have the worst record in the NFL in Matt Millen’s tenure of seven years. I wonder what protected Matt Millen from getting fired sooner than now?

But lets not look back, it’s a new day for the Detroit Lions and it’s time to celebrate their resurrection.

3232detroitlions.jpgGiven that the Lions have been at rock bottom in the NFL, I believe that they have only one direction to go now, upwards! Hopefully the message sent to the Lions team by Mr. William Clay Ford through Matt Millen’s firing should be clear; “Shape up or get out”!

So dear Lions team, its time for action. I will be only one of the hundreds of Detroit fans waiting for you to get back to the business of winning.

P.S.

I predict that the Lions will make a dramatic turnaround within the next three to five years. What I mean by that is that, within three to five years, if they haven’t won the super bowl, they will at least be considered a serious contender for it (fingers and toes crossed)!
